GANGWAY LOAD TESTING IN QATAR
For third-party services, EIWAA is the best option if you want to get certification of ship gangways, accommodation ladders, pilot ladders, Billy Pugh, personnel transfer baskets, suspension systems, offshore platforms, and landing surfaces, as well as annual and five-year load testing inspections. Handrails, stanchions, steps, walkways, store securing arrangements, and truss assemblies are tested using calibrated water weights in accordance with SOLAS, LR, ABS, BV, NK, and DNV ship classification requirements. As part of our pre-inspection procedure, we visually assess and inspect the state of the steps, walkways, railings, davit arms, winch and wire rope, platform hinges and pins, and welds. We can perform various welding qualification and welder testing services in Qatar to verify that the welder or welding operator can make sound quality welds. We provide ABS Approved welding procedures for welding compliance with the American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and BS EN Standards related to the welding engineering practices.
SOLAS, LEEA, QP and LOLER ship classification regulations cover the following topics:
- SOLAS Chapter II: Describes the requirements for structural integrity, load testing inspection, periodic inspection, and shipboard access equipment certification.
- IMO Resolution A.1045(27) describes the safety requirements for pilot ladders and pilot transfer arrangements.
- IMO MSC1/Circ.1331: Describes the specifications and procedures for building, maintaining, testing, inspecting, and certifying gangways and accommodation ladders on board ships and vessels.
- ILO Convention No. 133: Describes the requirements and processes for building, maintaining, load testing, inspecting, and certifying pilot ladders and gangways.
- DNV-ST-0378: This standard addresses the use of solid test weights, calibrated water bags, and sausage bags for load testing access machinery such platforms, gangways, pilot ladders, accommodation ladders, and offshore personnel transfers.
- Class NK/ABS/LR: This includes load testing for all access devices, such as personnel transfer baskets and accommodation ladders.
ACCOMMODATION LADDER LOAD TEST
Using solid test weights or calibrated water bags, EIWAA performs yearly, periodic, and five-year load testing inspections and certifications to confirm the load capability of accommodation ladders or other critical access systems at SWL. We use load testing inspection to confirm the Billy Pugh, also called the personnel transfer basket, at anchorages, offshore ports, and marine ports every six months or a year. Our certified inspection engineers use pull testing equipment, dynamometer load cells, and calibrated test weights to assess the flooring, rigging, slinging, weld joints, and structural integrity in accordance with SOLAS and ship classification laws.
