CARGO GEAR LOAD TESTING IN QATAR
The major marine classification societies of ABS, NK, RINA, BV, LR, and DNV have authorized EIWAA as an offshore service provider to offer third-party inspection services for ship cargo gear survey and load testing. Cargo gear testing and inspection services are crucial for the safe operation of lifting appliances, gears, and equipment. As a recognized service provider of major ship classification companies in Qatar, our skilled lifting inspection engineers do annual thorough inspections, periodic inspections, load testing, and certification of cargo gears and appliances in ships and vessels.
For cargo gear load testing and certifications, EIWAA onboard testing engineers thoroughly follow flag state regulations and requirements using calibrated water bags, water weights, lifting beams, slings, shackles, and grommets. Stages of installations, yearly comprehensive examinations, periodic examinations, SWL or proof load verification by proof load testing, and intermediate/visual/functional inspection criteria are all required for cargo gear load testing. The following are the ship classification standards and flag regulations for cargo gear load testing, inspection, and survey.
- The DNV ST-0377 standard outlines the testing, examination, and thorough inspection of cargo gear, marine lifting appliances, load handling devices, and loose gears. The specifications and procedures involve test loads, load tables, incremental adjustments, lifting appliance inspections, and certificates.
- IMO and SOLAS Regulation II-I/3-13 specify the safety requirements for onboard lifting appliances and loose lifting equipment in ships and boats.
- Ship-part A of RINA Rules REP. 1/E Part A Cargo gear classification and survey requirements, cargo handling equipment requirements, and structural part and assembly inspection and testing requirements are all outlined in the Classification Rules.
- The Lloyd's Register code for certification, testing, and inspection of lifting equipment in marine environments, such as cranes, derricks, winches, and cargo gear (LR Codes Part 3, Ch 9, Section 6). LR has a code for lifting appliances in maritime environments for component production, testing, and inspection.
- NK Rules: The NK classification society runs a condition assessment program for machinery, cargo handling components, and cargo gear for routine inspection, periodic inspection, and condition assessment in compliance with ship classification standards.
CARGO GEAR SURVEY IN QATAR
Cranes, winches, and lifting equipment must be surveyed, inspected, and tested annually, periodically, and every five years by ships, boats, and offshore rigs. For all cargo gear evaluations, calibrated water bags, water-filled weight bags, and dynamometer load cells with grommets, shackles, and slings are required.
