GANGWAY LOAD TESTING IN OMAN
EIWAA is the ideal choice for third-party services if you want to obtain periodic surveys, annual and five-year load testing inspections, and certification of ships’ gangways, accommodation ladders, pilot ladders, Billy Pugh, personnel transfer baskets, suspension systems, offshore platforms, and landing surfaces. According to SOLAS, LR, ABS, BV, NK, and DNV ship classification regulations, calibrated water weights are used for gangway load testing, Billy Pugh load testing, accommodation ladder load testing and pilot ladder load testing inspection.. Personnel transfer basket load testing and gangway load testing inspection must comply with SOLAS regulation. We visually evaluate and check the condition of the steps, walkways, railings, davit arms, winch and wire rope, platform hinges and pins, and welds as part of our pre-inspection process. gangway load testing and certification performed half-yearly or annually as per SOLAS, LEEA, and LOLER ship classification regulations cover the following topics:
- SOLAS Chapter II: Outlines the specifications for shipboard access equipment certification, gangway load testing inspection, periodic inspection, and structural integrity.
- IMO MSC1/Circ.1331: Outlines the specifications and procedures for constructing, maintaining, testing, inspecting, and certifying gangways and accommodation ladders on board ships and vessels.
- The safety criteria for pilot ladders load testing and pilot transfer arrangements are outlined in IMO Resolution A.1045(27).
- ILO Convention No. 133: Outlines the specifications and procedures for pilot ladder load test and gangway construction, maintenance, personnel transfer basket load testing, Billy Pugh inspection, and certification.
- DNV-ST-0378: This standard covers the use of calibrated water bags, sausage bags, and solid test weights for load testing access equipment such as gangways, accommodation ladders, pilot ladders, offshore personnel transfers, and offshore platform load tests.
- Class NK/ABS/LR: This covers the range of load testing for all access devices, including accommodation ladder load test and people transfer basket load testing inspection.
ACCOMMODATION LADDER LOAD TEST
In order to verify the load capacity of accommodation ladders or other vital access systems at SWL, EIWAA conducts annual, periodic, and five-year load testing inspections and certifications using solid test weights or calibrated water bags. Every six months or a year, we verify the Billy Pugh, also known as the personnel transfer basket, at anchorages, offshore ports, and marine ports through load testing inspection. As required by SOLAS and ship classification regulations, our inspection engineers who have been approved by the rules check the flooring, rigging, slinging, weld joints, and structural integrity using pull testing equipment, dynamometer load cells, and calibrated test weights.
