LAUNCHING AND RECOVERY SYSTEM (LARS) INSPECTION
We are one of the third-party inspection companies offshore providing certifications of Launch and Recovery System (LARS) of subsea equipment of ROVs, diving systems, and other marine equipment. Periodic inspection and certifications of LARS are to ensure a safe operational environment for personnel and equipment and to maintain offshore integrity and safety. 3rd party work equipment inspection prevents mechanical failure and its potential impacts. Third-party inspection and certification of LARS include nondestructive testing, load testing, and system verification. Applicable NDT testing methods are magnetic particle inspection or ultrasonic testing services. Proof load testing and certification of the Launch and Recovery System (LARS) shall be performed by calibrated water bags and lifting accessories with sufficient height. offshore Codes and standards of inspection and testing shall be
- DNV-ST-0378: Load testing and certification of offshore platforms and lifting appliances specifying proof load testing, NDT inspection, and design load factors for installation, fabrication, inspection, and maintenance.
- DNV-ST-N001: Requirements and methods of lifting operations of LARS at offshore jackets and platforms in harsh marine environments.
- DNVGL-ST-E273-2.7.3: Code applicable to portable LARS units or offshore handling equipment, and it specifies the code requirements of inspection and testing.
- IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association): Focused on LARS for ROVs and its design, installation, commissioning, inspection, and load testing.
- ISO 19901-6 Marine operations: It is related to heavy lifting inspection of offshore structures.
- EN 13852-1 Cranes—Offshore cranes—Part 1: LARS Inspection and Testing during crane load testing inspection.
LARS LOAD TESTING
EIWAA Marine Services performing the LARS load testing inspection and NDT certification comply with the requirements of the marine classification rules of ABS, BV, Lloyd’s Register, DNV NK, and RINA classification rules. Water weights are portable, and they’re an alternative to the solid test weights for carrying out the inspection and certification. Types of load testing of LARS include static load testing, dynamic load testing, and functional testing with various proof load testing requirements related to the SWL capacity. Our marine lifting engineers perform the pre-inspection requirements of LARS by performing verification for emergency stops, hydraulic systems, limit switches, and control panels.
