HULL AIR LUBRICATION SYSTEM INSTALLATION IN UAE
EIWAA Marine provides hull air lubrication system installation assistance to ship owners for improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Feasibility study, 3D laser scanning, 3D modeling, as-built drawing, and detailed engineering are provided for retrofitting and installation of the Hull air lubrication system. Basic concept drawing preparation based on the theory of small air bubbles or an air layer beneath the hull to reduce frictional assistance as the ship sails. We are providing marine air retrofitting solutions of HALS installation assistance in compliance with IMO Regulations and compliance standards. The Marine ALS system contributes to the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) by supporting CII compliance and IMO MARPOL Annex VI efficiency measurements.
We are class-approved marine surveyors for HALS installation of shipbuilding and retrofitting solutions by continually updating inspection, survey, and pathway approvals. Flag and classification rules of ALS requirements continually update regulating requirements of mandatory alarms and safety shutdown systems. Following are the IMO regulations and classification rules for ALS systems used in ships and vessels.
- Structural Changes: Air chambers, hull optimization, air flow paths, and ensuring hull strength.
- Integrity and Inspection: NDT Inspection, Welding Qualifications, Inspection of air supply piping, and Survey of Injection valves.
- Control system: ALS shall be controllable with additional safety procedures, remote monitoring, safety alarms, etc.
- Power and Energy Optimization: Compressors and blowers for additional power consumption for ALS, to be less than ~3% of total ship power.
- Ship classification and flag approval: Design and installation, including drawings, structural strength optimization, piping, and safety compliance.
- Operational profile suitability: Vessel speed, hull form, route (voyage, slow streaming), fouling management, etc.

3D LASER SCANNING AND MODELING OF HALS – UAE
For accurate ship design and installation of hull air lubrication, accurate measurements of ship hull and engine room areas are needed. We provide 3D laser scanning and modeling services to capture HD as-built data of vessels, including ducting, pump rooms, funnels, and distribution chambers. Accurate 3D scanning onboard enables integrations of ALS for ships and vessel supports retrofitting and reverse engineering with minimal downtime. Our 3D CAD models and point cloud data allow clash detection, layout optimization, and 3D verification as per IMO regulations and system guidelines. Our laser scanning solutions complied with the class approvals to achieve carbon intensity indicator (CII) compliance and innovative energy efficiency by reducing carbon emission.
